The newly installed Donald Trump Administration has started cutting unnecessary expenditures and in another move, it is going to stop funding condoms for use by the population of Gaza.
The latest pulling the plug out of the US funding for distributing condoms in Gaza is in line with an executive order issued by the President of the US which seeks to restructure and revise foreign aid by the US Government.
Donald Trump Administration Suspends Gaza Condom Funding
A US Official told Fox News,
“If the activity is not in conflict with the President’s priorities, it will continue with no issues. This is similar to how HHS (Department of Health and Human Services) stopped the flow of grant money to the World Health Organisation after President Trump announced the US withdrawal from the organization Or how the State Department halted several million dollars going to condoms in Gaza this past weekend.”
The White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was delivering her first briefing stating that DOGE which is the acronym for the Department of Government Efficiency and OBM discovered that 50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza.
The aid freeze is being enforced worldwide and includes countries like Ukraine with the exception of Israel and Egypt. Both Israel and Egypt will continue to receive food and military aid from the US.
In a story in 2020, The Jerusalem Post reported that the condoms which were sent to the Gaza and West Bank as aid were used to create IED Carrying balloons which wreaked havoc on civilian areas such as schoolyards, agricultural fields, highways, etc., in southern Israel.
The IEDs which flew into Israel from Gaza burned thousands of hectares of land and caused damages running into millions of shekels. The balloons were also found to carry rocket-propelled grenades and were used to increase the range of these explosives.
The Condoms used to carry the IED were either supplied by the Palestinian Authorities or International Aid Organizations.
The Trump Administration is also re-designating Houthis a foreign terrorist organization, setting aside the previous Biden administration’s decision to remove the terrorist organization status from Houthis.
The latter has been continuously attacking US naval ships across the Gulf region.
