The Trump-appointed DOGE, or the Department of Government Efficiency, is working in top gear, and among the many casualties is the probable scaling down or even closure of the USAID Agency.

Did USAID Spend $1 Million on Pillow Fluffing?

The meme has also led to a huge debate, and netizens are wondering if there is really an NPFI or National Pillow Fluffing Initiative.

The USAID Agency has been under intense scrutiny since Donald Trump took the reins of the administration as the President of the United States.

Several departments are on the radar of President Donald Trump and his key ally, Elon Musk, for unnecessary and wasteful funding.

Elon Musk has even dubbed USAID a criminal organization. The DOGE has initiated an audit of the agency’s spending and programs, sparking huge outrage and protests.

Social media users are searching for details of the programs funded by the Aid Agency and have stumbled upon “The National Pillow Fluffing Initiative,” dubbing it one of the most reckless.

There have been several posts on social media platforms like X and Facebook, alleging that USAID spends over $1.5 million on the National Pillow Fluffing Initiative.

A video of this was even shared by Elon Musk on X, leaving many netizens scratching their heads and wondering if this is even a real program funded by USAID.

The fact is that there has been no such program called the National Pillow Fluffing Initiative, nor did USAID spend any funds on the project.

USAID is one of the biggest aid programs in the world, with an allocation of $70 billion used to finance developmental and health projects across the globe.

The agency also funds disaster relief, poverty alleviation, and the promotion of democratic ideals in less developed nations.

However, Elon Musk has made it clear that the ultimate goal is to shut down USAID and has also stated that he has the full backing of U.S. President Donald Trump, who had already stated in his election campaign that he would eliminate all wasteful expenditures.

The process of shutting down the agency has already started, with more than 60 senior USAID officials being asked to go on leave. It is also reported that the U.S. Foreign Office is facilitating the return of USAID staff working on different developmental projects across the globe.

Trump has also signed an executive order freezing all foreign aid for 90 days.
