RHONY fans confused by Sai and Ubah’s ‘pineapple’ after ‘pigeon’ doesn’t take off

The Real Housewives of New York’s rebrand had fans worried at one time. Now, fans have adjusted to the new rebooted cast and many are warming to Jessel Taank, Sai Da Silva, Jenna Lyons, and co. But, lots of fans are taking to social media this fall in total confusion over totally out-of-context words being thrown across the room mid-fight. As if RHONY’s pigeon-themed trailer wasn’t mind-boggling enough, now the ladies are throwing the word “pineapple” around willy-nilly.

A girls’ trip to The Hamptons sounds absolutely delightful to most people. But, the reality of the Real Housewives of New York ladies’ staycay experience looked to be far from a good time. As Erin Lichy worried over the amount of complaints that could be coming her way as host, a fight got so wild a safe word is being pulled out the bag by Sai De Silva.

Hamptons chat gets heated

During a group trip to The Hamptons, Ubah Hassan and Brynn Whitfield get into it over the way everyone speaks to one another.

The episode 4 scene sees Brynn tell Ubah to “watch her language,” while Ubah responds: “You can’t tell me what to do.”

The ladies yell at one another across a table, with their co-stars awkwardly dotted around them.

As insults begin flying, including Ubah calling Brynn a “snake,” the cast members express they think it’s gone too far saying: “Woah,” in tandem.

All seems pretty normal for a Real Housewives show, right? Yes… that’s until Sai looks up from her food and says: “Pineapple.”

Ubah takes the hint and replies: “Pineapple, that’s for sure.”

Asking the question everyone wants the answer to, Jenna pipes up: “What’s pineapple?”

Ubah says: “Nothing,” before Sai adds: “Pineapple’s my favorite.”

Brynn states the obvious, adding: “Why are you yelling pineapple mid-conversation, this is weird.”

Erin Lichy suggests: “They have like a safe word?”

In a confessional, Sai says: “It really works, doesn’t it? Calm down.”

‘Pineapple’ causes confusion

Judging by X (Twitter), it’s not just Ubah and Sai’s co-stars who are totally confused by the word “pineapple” being said.

Not only are many people totally “over” the cast trying to make “pigeon” ‘happen’, now “pineapple” is getting it’s shining moment.

Many fans take to social media this October to ask why on earth the tropical fruit would get a mention out of nowhere: “Ubah is on Brynn’s neck, and then Sai says “pineapple” silence. What… ?!?!?”

The “pineapple” cue was clearly dropped by Sai to give Ubah a message: “Stop talking,” but it’s still a pretty random choice of word.

One fan took to X to say how they don’t like the idea of Ubah not being true to herself on camera: “Don’t like Ubah admitting she came up with a safe word, Pineapple, for the ladies to yell at her when Ubah is going off the rails since there are cameras watching her. We want to see Ubah be herself and not edit down her emotions because of the camera.”

More people found the fruit safe word pretty funny, commenting: “The ladies learning if they yell ‘pineapple’ at Ubah, it’ll get her to stop yelling” and another wrote: “The pineapple thing was pretty iconic.”
