NYT Games’ Spelling Bee Marks a Special Change for 2,500th Puzzle | NYT Games, Spelling Bee | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip

The New York Times Games app is celebrating the 2,500th puzzle for the Spelling Bee game and a “first” just occurred!

In the Spelling Bee game, you have to find as many words as you can using the seven letters provided, though the letter in the center must be used in every word. Letters can be used multiple times and every puzzle includes at least one pangram, which includes all seven letters. All words must contain at least four letters and no cussing is allowed.

The puzzle has been around since 2018, but there is one letter that has never been used.

The letter “S” is included in the March 12, 2025 puzzle, marking the first time it has ever appeared in the game.

“The 2,500th Spelling Bee felt like a good time to try something new and exciting. I chose this puzzle because it’s a good intro to the magic you can have with the letter ‘S.’ Today there will be many fun words you can make that have never appeared in Spelling Bee history, including an appropriate pangram for the occasion,” NYT Games Digital Puzzles Editor Sam Ezersky said.
