EXCLUSIVE: Nick Thompson has been pretty vocal about his life since he found love on Love Is Blind season two. The woman he met in the pods, Danielle Ruhl, is no longer his wife, and he found himself battling a lot of personal issues once filming wrapped up. Two years ago, Nick almost missed a mortgage payment and was really close to becoming homeless.
Nick Thompson gives an update on his new financial situation
Nick Thompson has revealed that he’s been working at the same stable job for a year and a half, and is now “financially stable”. He previously said how his “life was ruined” as being a public figure made it hard for him to be hired as many companies didn’t trust him, but he’s now a mental health advocate fighting to help reality TV contestants like himself.
He exclusively told Reality Shrine, “I’m doing a lot better personally, and I’m really focused on rebuilding my own life and existence. This [Love Is Blind] is part of who I am, but I have my own hobbies that are separate and I’ve now separated that part of me on the show. I was damaged in the process from a mental health perspective, and was at a loss during my public divorce.”
Nick is now convinced he “manifested” the life he’s been putting together ever since, and is “much closer to the life he had before reality TV.” He told us, “I was at peace and financially stable. I got my first pay cheque but I almost missed my mortgage payment, I had savings but I had to cash out my 401K, it was really brutal, but I didn’t lose my home.”
He’s ‘building the life he had for himself before’
Nick is still focused on advocating for reality TV contestants on shows like Love Is Blind and Married At First Sight Australia. He’s also dedicated to “working on getting that separation from who you are as a person versus what is on the screen,” as he’s “aware people will perceive you in that way.” His whole premise is that he doesn’t want others to be harmed mentally purely for entertainment purposes.
He’s working hard at helping cast members file complaints, as he felt he had a lack of autonomy while filming Love Is Blind. Nick felt he was previously “sold a dream” back in 2020, when he was first approached on LinkedIn to appear in the pods, but by 2022, he had decided he no longer wanted to be famous.
