Real Housewives of Orange County fans are still getting to know newbie Katie Ginella. While the drama among the other ladies in the group reaches a fever pitch in season 18, Katie can hardly get a word in edgeways. But, the newcomer certainly has viewers’ attention as she shares her heartbreaking adoption story with her co-stars this fall.

The Real Housewives of Orange County cast is made up of some true OGs this year including Tamra Judge and Shannon Storms Beador. The two are arguably taking a lot of the limelight in the season 18 episodes, and Emily Simpson, Gina Kirschenheiter, Jennifer Pedranti, and Katie are all weighing in on the drama, too. During a conversation about mammograms, Katie takes the opportunity to shed light on why she doesn’t know about her own medical history.

Katie tells the group about her adoption

While the RHOC ladies are on the subject of mammograms, Katie Ginella tells her co-stars how she “doesn’t know anything about her history, being adopted.”

She adds: “That’s the one thing that I wish I had, a medical history.”

The reality TV newcomer explains how, for her fortieth birthday, she is going to Korea to “hopefully” meet her birth mother.

She explains that her birth mom is 55 years old, is married, and has kids.

Katie’s mom had her at 15

As Katie tells the emotional story of how her mother had to give her up as an infant, she explains the tough scenario to the other ladies.

Katie tells her co-stars her mom was “super young when she had her,” before she’s asked: “Your birth mom’s 55?”

Emily Simpson does the math, and tells Katie: “You’re 40, so she was 15.”

Katie goes on to explain more details about why she was given up for adoption.

“She almost had me in a factory. She worked until the day I was born and she kept me for three days, and then discovered she couldn’t keep me,” Katie tells the group.

The Bravo star sheds tears during the show as Gina tells her: “She couldn’t, she wanted to.”

“Yeah, but it’s OK. All I want to do i say like ‘I had an amazing life and I’m fine’, I’m super thankful.”

Speaking in a confessional, Katie adds:

“I feel like if I had given my baby up for adoption, that’s all I would want to know is they were raised right, loved, cared for, and provided for. So, I just want her to know ‘I’m great and I’m not mad at you, I actually applaud you for making that decision’.”
