In the third season of Prime Video’s hit series Invincible, Mark Greyson must push himself to the brink of his capabilities to protect those he loves and keep them close, while facing the horrifying realities of his past and future that can destroy everything. Invincible Season 3 Review

Mark Greyson is going through a lot this season — coming to terms with how his life has turned out and honing his skills have to be tough, considering he’s still quite young. With moral questions and choices coming up to haunt him, Mark has a lot to learn and choose this season.

As always, the moral and ethical dilemmas in Invincible are my favourite parts; with superheroes and supervillains wreaking havoc, there are bound to be some difficult questions posed. The series makes its characters ask and ponder over these questions constantly, fighting and bickering down a path to understand that not everything is black and white. The question of rehabilitating violent offenders is brought up a lot this season and it’s interesting how Cecil and Mark’s worldviews reflect so much on their ages and experiences. Mark is young and with a more idealistic view of life; combined with his ego, things can get a bit bloody sometimes.

However, in spite of some very unnecessary decisions, we always know that Mark is trying to do the best with what he is given. As always, the series blends the personal and professional lives of Mark, as well as all the other superheroes, really well. We are made to understand their motivations and emotions throughout the runtime really well and although we might not agree with some of the choices, the logical way in which they are presented will make viewers at least understand them. It’s also quite interesting how we sometimes even feel bad for the supposed villains in the series — sometimes villains are created, not born.

Also, what a fantastic season that brings forth the problems within the family unit. Mark and Debbie are now responsible for Oliver, whose shocking powers take everyone by surprise. His young age, combined with powers that are too mature for him, turns into a tricky situation for the family as they try to make him responsible. It doesn’t help that he follows Omni-Man’s path a bit too much. The family’s issues turn into Mark himself questioning his choices and decisions and holding up such a great mirror for him.

Filled with the viewpoints of different characters, the third season gives us a variety of perspectives to go through. While the bloody fight sequences are fantastic, we also get quieter, more introspective moments that add so much more dimension to the story. With new villains to battle and old characters to get to know again, the series brings forth eight thrilling episodes that are so easy to binge. The voice actors, as always, are absolutely fantastic and add everything necessary to make this an even more enjoyable experience.

Politics and changing allegiances also become a big part of Invincible as Mark grows up and makes adult decisions this time around. Titan is facing a lot of issues this time around and Omni-Man’s fate is a bit iffy. I will not get into spoilers, but the series weaves in and out of these storylines extremely well, keeping us invested in all of them at the same time. There’s a ton happening in everyone’s lives this season as things get more and more complicated with the different “super” people on Earth and as the lines blur between right and wrong, moral dilemmas become the talk of the season.

What sacrifice is too much or too little sacrifice for the greater good of the world? Whose death doesn’t matter when the question of the Earth’s destruction comes into play? These and many more are the questions posed in Invincible Season 3. Filled with moral and ethical dilemmas plaguing Mark and the other superheroes, it sheds light on the concepts of right and wrong and how there are technically no right answers in this game or life and death. A fantastic and entertaining series through and through.
